Description

Large spider found scurrying along fence behind house. Immediately caught my eye because I was looking for lycosids and jumpers along the fence, and this was much different than the typical Pardosa and Trochosa that are everywhere in my yard. What caught my eye at first was the size for sure but I quickly noticed it had this olive green undertones with distinct carapace, which immediately made me think this was a species I hadn’t encountered before. I captured it in a cup and brought it in for photos before releasing again. Based on that carapace and the spots on the abdomen I think this is Dolomedes triton, which would be my first spider of this genus if indeed true.
