Description

This beetle was trapped in a pan trap in organice vineyard 25/09/2020. Today on 02/10/2020 I examined and determined it to be apart of the Coleoptera taxa, a beetle. Although the beetle was hard to examine with it being so small, I could see it had 6 legs, a small waist. Since it was so small I wasn’t able to see under the fore wings (hard horney texture) I assume underneath there is a set of membranous wings (transparent). I was able to determine this as there are a lot of signs and features pointing to beetle. It also had a mandible (chewing mouth peice). The exoskeleton (the outer of the beetle) appeared hard also helping to to determine beetle

I can see this is a porina moth as it has 3 sets of true legs and the remainder pro legs. It is also a caterpillar, many people can recognise a caterpillar. It has a hooked appearing mouth peice, which is best suited to the plants it eats as a larvae
