Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani)

Description

A pair of Black Oystercatchers flew in and landed on the breakwater by a cormorant. The one at left with the darker eye and two-toned bill is the juvenile. I wonder if the adult is its mom or dad?

I'd never seen such a large clump of Lycoperdon pyriforme. There were hundreds of others nearby that were older and decomposing.
