Least Bell’s Vireo
(Vireo bellii pusillus) - Federally and State Endangered
How cool is this? I heard a little bird singing its heart out as soon as I got on the path! It was so cheerful and uplifting, a LBVI!!!. It was hopping around on the mule fat across from the rock sitting area when I first heard it. Later on, after about 30-45 minutes, I heard two LBVIs calling out to each other near the soccer field at the east end of the loop.

A fairly early arrival and likely breeder here. Near large willow lake. Sang once the first half (questioning song) but not last half (answer song)
JW Corbett Wildlife Management Area, PBC, FL
One of five singing from willows and pepper trees, N. of main lake.
Pair with a nest. Careful to avoid disturbance.
Active nest. Can see female’s tail as she broods
Is this small (warbler-sized) bird a vireo that I saw at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh.
