Young poison oak, all over the sides of the PIne Ridge trail at Point Lobos State Reserve,
I was walking home from school one day, when I saw a bright orange flower catch my eye. It was growing all by itself by the side of a mail box. The dirt around it seemed dry, and the sidewalk was close by as well. It seemed an odd place for such a beautiful flower. When I got closer, I noticed I was seeing the California Poppy. There were no other plants around it, besides tiny splotches of other very small grasses, and one bushy like plant.
