Orange on the underwing
This underwing was perched with closed wings high on the side of the house, a good 6 meters to the left of the deck. Sat there for probably a hour, nothing doing. I got a zoom shot of it, maybe good enough for an ID, but that’s about it. Finally I decided to rock the boat & looked around for something to throw at it. Amazingly, I beaned it first try with a dead cilantro stem, tossed end over end, and it lifted off and flew toward the buglight ... and then past the buglight and off into the night. Oh, well, easy come, easy go! But ten minutes later it was back and posing nicely.
