Description

Point on map is the location of the largest concentration. There is a logging rd just south of there. Quite a few sedges were along that road. Others are scattered in the cut-off area to the north. There may be more in the cut-off area to the south.
I searched about 2 1/2 acres north of the logging road.
Not sure what was logged off, possibly jack pine. There were some white oak trees left and some white pine nearby. Other species found were Carex debilis, blackberry, Danthonia spicata, Dichanthelium sp, Scirpus cyperinus, red maple, sheep sorrel, cinnamon fern, Juncus canadensis.

The main species found in the sandy opening were Carex adusta, Danthonia spicata, Dichanthelium sp.
In the cut-off area, associated species were Rubus hispidus, Scirpus cyperinus, Carex debilis, Juncus canadensis, red maple. Sphagnum moss was near some. Jack pine was logged off.

Description

Area was recently logged off. Most of the sedges were found along a skidder trail. Point on map is where a population of 150 were found. A few other clumps were found within a 250' x 80' area. There may be more in the cut-off area. Associated species include Rubus hispidus, Dichanthelium sp., Lysimachia quadrifolia, Scirpus cyperinus.
Area has been replanted with red pine.
Soil moisture was mesic due to drought conditions. In a normal year, it would have been saturated.

Description

Wooded area dominated by white pine and red maple. Many large white pines but may have been thinned out recently. Area was partially open. Some of the sedges had elongated inflorescences, not tightly clustered. but the perigynia were all typical of C. cumulata. These woods are adjacent to a logged-off area where I found C. cumulata last year.

Woods were thinned out recently. Most of the sedges were found in one clump in an open area along a logging road. One other was found on the logging road. Besides white pine, other associates included red maple, Scirpus cyperinus, Carex debilis, bracken fern, and Canada mayflower. Most of the stems were decumbent. If not for a few upright ones I probably wouldn't have seen them.
