Listed in my field guide as Postia caesia. Blue-gray patches when handled. Strong pleasant fragrance.
Exuding clear liquid droplets. Fuzzy/velvety texture at edge. Growing on black cherry. Edge stained greenish gray where touched. Zoned interior.
Found 3 clustered in a grassy meadow near apple, pine, and walnut trees. 6cm cap smooth. Noted brown discoloration at cap where split. Did not see any veil remnants, nor ring on the smooth and short purple stem. Unequal gills appear slightly scalloped. Odor mild. Spore print appears tan.
Dead deciduous wood, the springtail insects were doing a number on the upper, hairy surface.
