Died during or shortly after cold weather event.
Visual Description: The Gallinule was similar in shape to most other aquatic birds. They had a red bill and forehead shield. The bird was darker in color, mainly gray, with marks of white. The babies were also photographed and are dark-colored as well. Even though hidden by the water, these birds have yellow legs and feet that are long in order to walk in marshes.
Habitat: These birds live in freshwater or brackish marshes. They prefer to live in a habitat with access to open water in order to hunt. Ponds and marshes are suitable as the bird can hunt and navigate in the water and mud. Throughout the year, they are found in the southern area of North America throughout most of Brazil.

Not sure what this is. Suggested is not the bird. It has a loud chirp and they dig in the soil of my potted plants. They are large birds 6-9” and seem to have red eyes.
