Known population - Happy to be a part of the Malaxis bayardii graduating class of 2023!
Two specimens seen, one was easily accessible and looked worse for wear (most flowers missing, no leaf) but appeared to be pollenated. The pictured specimen was much deeper in the brush and I have the scars and rash to prove it (protected on all sides by a dense cover of Green Briar, Holly, and Poison Ivy)
I will be reporting more details and a few more photos to the state. I have obscured all my other observations from the site on this day.

Known location for this species. I checked this site several times last year and did not find any plants (possibly due to drought?). On this outing I did not search extensively but it was the only plant I found. I think it's slightly early for this species so hopefully this is a good sign for a more productive year this year with all the rain we've had.
