Rootthug?

Animals obviously short on foodplants at this time of the year. This inconspicuous character was obviously an item of choice: a Keystone species.

Observation patched from others: was too busy running after goggas to notice the plant until it turned out to be the common thread in all the gogga pictures, so put together this collage for it.

Description

Hardleaf for restoration

Collecting fruit for dispersal into the more degraded areas currently under aliens and cleared (and since this observation, also burned - late last week!).

Not holding much hope: these only germinate when very ripe, almost only after they are dropped - before then they dont seem to ripen properly; and besides, parasitism of the fruit is very high: up to 80% in some cases, although these look good.
