Found on the east side of Sword Fern Trail, 22 metres from the start of the Salish intersection, Pacific Spirit Park, Point Grey, Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. Growing on a rotting stump with other bryophytes including Buckiella undulata.
Identifying features include the numerous small gemma cups with leaves surrounding the gemmae and the stalked gemmiferous shoots without surrounding leaves. The habitat on a decomposing log is also indicative of this species.
Found on the east side of Imperial Trail, 50 metres north of the Sword Fern Trail intersection, Pacific Spirit Park, Point Grey, Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. Growing on a coniferous tree with other bryophytes.
Identifying features include ribbon-like homogenous thallus, with a single distinctive midrib and hairs only on the margins and underside of the thallus.
Found on the west side of Sword Fern Trail, 20 metres from the start of the Salish intersection, Pacific Spirit Park, Point Grey, Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. Growing on a coniferous tree, likely Douglas fir, with other bryophytes.
Identifying features include pinnate branching (photo 1), four sharp lobes on upper leaves that have incubus insertion (photo 4), many lobes on under leaves (photo 5) and many oil bodies per cell (photo 6).
Found on the east side of Iron Knee Trail, 15 metres from the Long Trail intersection, Pacific Spirit Park, Point Grey, Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. Growing on a coniferous tree with other bryophytes.
Identifying features include the toothed leaf margins without differentiated cells (photo 5), the larger ventral lobe and the small dorsal lobe of leaves (photos 3/4). There are also no underleaves.
