Very small. Staining pale brownish at first, fading to blue. Mainly sourwood, also maple. Seen several times that day.
Found growing on side of trail, mostly hardwoods nearby.
Yellow pores bruise blue & turn brownish orange with KOH
Deep Red cap is almost cracked, dry with white margin, cap skin turns orange with KOH
Pale yellow cap flesh blues slowly, turns pale orange with KOH.
Acidic metallic taste
Synonymous with Bresadolia craterella
Mixed hardwood/Tsuga forest. Stained blue rapidly when damaged.
