Visited the Makana Botanical Gardens on Friday November 19th and around Mountain Drive on Sunday November 22nd with Amy. Uploaded records of mostly plants and some insects to iNaturalist.

Part 1: Vancouver (and vicinity), British Columbia, Canada

Visited Granville Island on May 25th, Jericho Beach on May 28th, Deep Cove on May 29th, and Spanish Banks on June 15th. Departed from Vancouver on June 17th for a cross-country road trip and arrived in Quebec City on July 2nd.

Part 2: Gaspé Region, Québec, Canada

Departed from Quebec City on July 8th for a road trip through eastern Canada. Visited Métis-sur-Mer on July 8th and stayed at Ladd and Kyle's chalet for two nights. Visited Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Rivière-Madeleine on July 10th and stayed at an Airbnb in the Gaspé region for two nights. Visited Grand-Étang, Gaspé, and Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Rivière-Madeleine (again) on July 11th. Finally, we visited Maria on July 12th as we drove towards New Brunswick. On the return journey from Halifax to Quebec City, we visited Métis-sur-Mer from July 17th to the 20th and stayed at the chalet for three nights. Visited Les Boules, Matane, and Saint-Ulric on July 18th. Arrived in Quebec City on July 20th.

Part 3: New Brunswick, Canada

Visited Caraquet and Miscou Island on July 13th, and stayed at an Airbnb for one night in Tracadie-Sheila. Visited Cape Tormentine on July 14th before driving over the Confederation Bridge towards Prince Edward Island. On the return journey from Halifax to Quebec City, we visited Bouctouche on July 17th.

Part 4: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada

Made a quick one-day visit to Charlottetown on July 14th. Arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in the evening where we stayed at a friend's apartment for three nights.

Part 5: South Shore, Nova Scotia, Canada

Visited Mahone Bay and Lunenburg on July 15th. Visited the harbour front of Halifax on July 16th. Departed from Halifax on July the 17th for the return journey back to Quebec City.

Phase 1 - Deploy settlement plates at 13 sites throughout southwest New Brunswick. Opportunistically chat with marine resource users (e.g., fishermen) and recreational boaters. Order and prepare material for tunicate taxonomy (Phase 4).

Phase 2 - Survey eelgrass beds in St. Andrews and Shediac as part of large-scale latitudinal project led by M. Carman.

Phase 3 - Take temperature and salinity measurements throughout the region. Determine invasive tunicate abundance on floating docks semi-quantitatively. Examine boat hulls opportunistically. Collect fouling species (primarily algae and invertebrates) from floating docks and beaches for the bioblitz. Collect tunicate specimens from floating docks as voucher samples.

Phase 4 - Identify tunicate specimens (collected from Passamaquoody Bay and Brier Island) to species at the Atlantic Reference Centre via dissections. Give a guest lecture at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre and a tunicate identification workshop at the Atlantic Reference Centre.

Phase 5 - Retrieve settlement plates from 13 sites throughout southwest New Brunwick. Determine recruitment densities on plates of target species (primarily invasive tunicates).
