Status of the herpetofauna of Negros Island, Central Philippines

DRAFT (Checklist)
An updated species list on the herpetofauna of Negros Island is presented and briefly annotated in terms of their distribution and abundance. The zoogeographic affinity of Negros appears to conform to the Pleistocene Island Complex (PAIC). Remarks on the basic biology of species, including newly described taxa, are also provided:
Amphibians
Platymantis negrosensis: Becoming rare and only 4 individuals observed in the vicinity of Twin Lakes Balinsasayao-Danao from September 2016-March 2017.

Platymantis hazelae: Several clutches (~8 eggs each) were observed and described. In January-February 2017, one of these egg clutches was observed and allowed to hatch. Descriptions of froglets are also provided in a separate paper.

Platymantis dorsalis-common but an updated population density provided

Platymantis corrugatus- less common relative to P. dorsalis; often heard/observed during periods of high precipitation; an updated population density provided

Hylarana erythraea

Hylarana everetti (with new name?)

Reptiles
Scincidae
Pseudogeko atiorum: recently described as separate species (Davis et al. 2015) from P. brevipes.

Gekkonidae
Gekko gecko: common (Bucol & Alcala, 2013 described this species feeding on a juvenile rat)
