Life History Trade-Offs Poster - a great educational resource about invasive species

Assistant Professor Jane Catford (Kings College London) and her colleagues have put together this very useful poster explaining why some introduced species become invasive - it prints well at A1 and A0 https://drive.google.com/open?id=1o3X5aK1u7kKoFW8xnI89jWWfVb32DFXj Species can be placed on a continuum from being a good coloniser to a good competitor - this a life history trade-off. Enemy release occurs when a species is introduced to another country. It allows the introduced coloniser to also become a good competitor and the introduced competitor to become a good coloniser. In this way the introduced species has escaped the life history trade-off, allowing it to become invasive in the new country.
