We've all had the very frustrating experience of seeing something really cool, reaching for our camera, and finding with horror that its not there. Its part and parcel of being on iNaturalist, I think, but that doesn't make it any less annoying.

But we've still seen those amazing animals, and if we can identify them by sight then why not still include them on our life list? This list is a way for me to do that in an organised and coherent way.

Prompted by losing my camera (and so four days of observations...) during a holiday in Belize, I'm hoping that it can serve both as a record of 'The Ones That Got Away', and am ongoing 'To See Again' list. Hopefully over time I'll be able to remove animals from this list as I see them, and this time photograph them(!) in the future!

Self-Imposed Rules:

  • Has to be a sure fire field ID - no "hmmm, I think it was probably a...." identifications.
  • No observations from before, say, May 2019, so that it doesn't become a list of "Oh yeah, I think I saw that animal when I was 5" observations!
This list only accepts taxa that are species
