Description

Alpine ridge top. Soils moist and rocky. Elevation = 3,500 ft. Most stems branched, a few individuals with simple stems. Cauline leaves alternate and pinnatifid, galea beakless, flowers small (10-14 mm) and yellow with purplish areas. Upper lip with pair of long slender teeth (see detailed photos). As a side note, Cody (2000) in the Flora of the Yukon Territory includes in the key for P. lapponica (a species superficially similar to P. labradorica) that it has an "Upper lip with a toothed beak at right angles to apex". However Flora of North America notes that this is a misrepresentation: http://beta.semanticfna.org/Pedicularis_lapponica
