Humpbacked Flies (Family Phoridae)Observer

3-5 mm, quick movements on surfaces. Collecing in masses under porch roof at side of house with extensive termite damage. When disturbed they swarm at me but never land on me or bite sting.
They seem to react as a colony, when swarming at me they emit a powerful odor resembling mushrooms and anise.
My research shows they may be scuttle flies?
