Chilean Stag Beetle (Chiasognathus grantii)Observer

Very large male! About 9cm long. Found flying in parking lot of Volcán Osorno Ski Área. Spotted by my 7 year old son, who reports that its bite with those insanely huge pinchers doesn’t hurt. I was tickled to learn Darwin did the same experiment (let it bite him) with the same results.
