Stipe 'snaps' when bent. Things that were missed first time around - Need to verify substrate (wood or soil?), and get better shots of stipe/attachment, smells. Note white spored (photo 2) amyloid rxn for spores (photo 3), UV glows blue (photo 4), ellipsoid spores, long pointed cystidia (photo 5-6, 1 div=1um) odd attachment of spores - 1/2 way up? - to basidia (photo 7-8, photo 7, 1 div=1 um, photo 8 1 div = 10 um)

On pollen embedded in cone sap from pollen cone of Atlas cedar - Photo 1 - conidial chains? Note that these ran out from pollen surface. Photo 2 Conidia (?) Below Cedrus, Broken twig found on the ground - could have blown here from nearby trees? Photo 3 - erumpent fruiting bodies in lactic acid. In Photo 7 - Fruiting body 550um across - imperfectly round, very firm and difficult to section. I let it dry right out before adding lactic acid. Photo 6 - xsection of fruiting body shows hollow concavity within. Photo 8 - Allantoid to Cylindrical-Ellipsoid conidiospores, Photo 10 - Will measure shortly. Could not find any septate spores here. Note pleurogenous condial development (conidia popping off the side of the conidiophore see photo 6 and 9) Compare to higher quality observation here https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/112918758

Red Thread (Laetisaria fuciformis)Observer
angelique_kDescription
Laetisaria fuciformis identified nearby - this is more of a large clump of a corticoid fruiting body. See key end of this article:
Three species are parasitic on grass leaves [L. culmigena (R. K. Webster and D. A. Reid) Diederich, Lawrey and Ghobad-Nejhad, L. fuciformis (Berk.) Burds., and L. roseipellis (Stalpers and Loer.) Diederich, Lawrey and Ghobad-Nejhad]
- Clamps totally absent…………………………L. fuciformis
- Clamps present at least on some septa……………………9
- Basidia with four sterigmata, basidiospores 9–12 × 5–6 μm……………‥…………………………L. roseipellis
Basidia with two sterigmata, basidiospores 13–16 × 7–9.5 μm…………‥….,°………………………L. culmigena

Photo 9: (9-11.5)x(7.5-8)
Looks like this https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/100609180 to me - lack of clamp connections. So L. fuciformis it is.

Much darker colours on side away from road, facing south. Deserves the 'most like kale' award. Could be Parmelia hygrophila (granular isidia, Granular circles mid leaf - slightly orange color scattered here and there - not sure if that is the leaf itself?)

Amazing smell. Large one is Overpowering lilac floral smell, and the younger one is floral and yet like gasoline. 3.5-9 cm cap, 4.5 - 7 cm stipe - extremely yellowed/old Tricholoma sulphureum matches the intense lilac/hyacinth smell description. Colours are all wrong but could be due to age? Note widely spaced gills and lack of notch...Microscopy to come. Hyaline spores.

From AI - Will voucher. Growing on a very lovely moss garden at Camosun: Please see similar fruiting body and microscopy here https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/190860055 Compare with Photo 14 - 'gill' trama with palisade of basidia - 'Gills' remind me more of very shallow, indistinct cross-gills rather than lamellae - bulbous (capitate) 1div=1um - some with four basidiospores still attached (photo 16). See photo 7 showing little clusters of 4 spores glittering in a line from the attachment point. Photo 9 in KOH. Three distinct layers to the hymenium - photo 9, 12. Photo 15 - looks like algal or bryophyte cell surrounded/encased in hyphae. See entry in MRC.
