A deciduous shrub that grows 2-6 m tall, however our specimen was under 1m and had recently been manicured. It was flower less and had been trimmed into an oval-shape showcasing the alternating leaf clusters. The older versions produce light green hairy calyx and fruit in a tree "pea pod" and was a popular import from England by early settlers to Canada. The shrub also has bright yellow flowers 9-10 mm and faint greeb veins in both the leaf, calyx, and fruit.

Found in late bloom colors, the alternating leaf clusters are sticky when emerging during the bud stage, and have well pronounced veins extending through the blade across the midrib. Petiole are finely haired near pointed apices. Loses its leaves in Autumn, as illustrated in the pic, where many stipules can be seen attached to the twig, and some loose petiole can also be seen.

Commonly known as the White Oak, this tree was growing on the side of the hill near the CCBN, and had a neighboring species growing nearby. Both models had deciduous cones, or acorns, which appeared to have bug holes chewed in the shells. The species is monoecious and staminate flowers in pendant, clustered amend near end of stems. The leaves can be 5-9 inches long and 2-4 inches wide. The leaf shape shows rounded lobes divided by variable sinuses and has scaly bark.
