Description

Compare to Blackjack Oak taken same day. Post oak has duller yellow/brown leaves vs shiny rusty reds of blackjack. Green leaves are also duller than on blackjack. Notice the ashe junipers under the canopy of this tree.

Description

There are very few lacy oaks on this property ad this is the largest. I am not very familiar with them, so help with the ID will be appreciated.

Description

It is not obvious in the photo, but the tree is surrounded by ashe junipers under its canopy. The junipers seem to be attracted to post oaks more than other species. Some of the oaks surrounded by junipers are alive and apparently well; others are dead. Is it cause and effect?
