Description

An elusive (to me, at least) Overton Park copperhead! And @patrick34 gets credit for spotting it first.

I appreciated these articles about them, and it looks like https://twitter.com/MemptileScience/status/1164993614063243268?s=20 is doing some great research on them:

Description

The two specimens presented (one in photos 1 and 2 and the second in photo 3) seemed to me to be the same type of fungi, growing in different ways, very near each other, on the same downed tree, but I might easily be mistaken! I just didn't want to create two unnecessarily repetitive posts, if the two belong to the same species.

Description

Monotropa uniflora takes my breath away every time I chance upon one. This one appeared to take the form of a lone, ghostly rose--its raised head reaching out to assert its place in the free mountain air, while drawing its lifeblood from a dark, rich underworld. So ghostly.
