Walking on road so food-plant not known. Put on jacket to photograph. Length 40mm, Probably a partly grown specimen, too small to be seeking pupation site.

Female feeding on Buddleia near Cambridge North station, remained for a long time

About 25mm, feeding on nettle.

Feeding on bramble. About 30 mm long.

Feeding on Verbena. Doing less badly this year than most UK butterflies.

Sole specimen of Painted Lady seen this year, on Verbena. Poor year for butterflies in UK despite hot early summer.

Feeding on laurel outside student residence. Appears in numbers every year with egg-clusters aroung adjacent window-frames.

Injured specimen by road. More blue than I expected.

Very numerous wherever there was a damp patch. Tiny, 12mm wingspan

Showed red abdomen when in flight. Associated with Acacia trees. Many seen

50mm long! Flew in noisily, attracted by lights, then crashed to ground. Elateridae for certain, 'clicked' when handled!

Quite common around the CCF compound, saw fruits (c. 25 mm) only, no flowers
