Description

Along the waterline, still pulsating. Looks like Cubozoa, but we haven't seen a member from this class before and weren't aware they'd be in the N. Atlantic.

Description

Found several among the holdfast of Codium fragile. Approx. 0.5cm in diameter. Very easily detached; do not seem to "swim", but "walk" along substrate.

Description

At first, I thought this animal was a nudibranch (likely a dorid) because it displayed reddish-brown gills (in this photo, the "gills" are retracted into the pore on the upper left). However, when I tried to gently detach it from the rock to pick it up, it hunkered down into a hole (like the kind made by burrowing clams) in the rock that was directly beneath it. I can't find photos of anything like it in nudibranch galleries, but am at a loss for what else it might be! Thanks for any help you can provide!
