Monarch (Danaus plexippus)

Description

Specimen deceased upon capture. I hypothesize that this is a Monarch butterfly based on the colorations, spot locations on its forewings and abdomen, and most notably the vein stucture of the hindwings, that being one looping vein with radiating veins off of it. The white dot patterns and the hindwing vein patterns differentiate it from other species that imitate its color patterns for defense.
