I was in the Rogers State University Nature Reserve with a friend trying to find a good spot to take some photos for our upcoming virtual commencement ceremony. While we were trying to find a spot with the proper lighting we ran across several eastern cottontail rabbits. They were not as afraid of people as those found in more rural areas, but they still kept their distance.

The Ecology of Mammals class was brought to a series of caves for a class trip. Multiple species of bats were observed including some Big Brown Bats (Eptesicus fuscus) and Tri-colored bats (Perimyotis subflavus). The pictures show a tri-colored bat.

I was at the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge with my fiancée for the afternoon. We hiked around the nature trails out there and saw many snakes. There were not many mammals out today. After we decided to call it a day and driving out we saw this nine banded armadillo foraging at the side of the road.

While on my walk in the Rogers State University Nature Reserve there were a plethora of deer tracks around the pond and Aqua Lab. I did not actually see as many deer as I have in the past, but there were far more tracks.

I was out for a walk in the Rogers State University Nature Reserve and saw several Eastern Gray Squirrels. These were noticeably smaller than the Eastern Fox Squirrels that I have seen in the same general area. I also noticed the Eastern Gray Squirrels today were more shy of humans than the Eastern Fox Squirrels here.

I was out specifically looking for signs of Mammals and making personal notes about if signs are increasing since people have not been out nearly as much. I have not seen more live Mammals out, but I have noticed less roadkill. This was found inside the Rogers State University Nature Reserve.

I ran across this specimen while I was out running errands. I have noticed a decrease in roadkill since people are not out as much during the pandemic. Cause of death was most likely being struck by a vehicle since it was found on a road and the condition of the body.

While I was out for an evening walk I spotted this Eastern Fox Squirrel climb in the trees. During the same walk I saw an abundance of white tailed deer. This was found inside the Rogers State University Nature Reserve.
