My friend, who's very experienced at herping actually pinned this guys head down and caught it. we then put it in a container and took it to a well lighted area to take some pics. after the pics we took it back where we caught it and let released it where we found it.

Western Coachwhip (Masticophis flagellum ssp. testaceus)Observer

Flipped this guy under some scrap tin. He was about 2-3 ft in length. at first I thought it was a bairds rat snake but after further research I came to the conclusion it was a western coachwhip but I may be wrong. This picture is a screen shot from a video I took. I never actually got to catch it to take photos cause I didn't want to touch a snake that I wasn't familiar with.
