Description

very small, about 4" long. Found laying motionless and flaccid with no apparent injuries in bright sun on lightly traveled asphalt road. (Unusual. Possibly suffering from sun/heat stress?)

Description

Great to see so many, apparently healthy, Ochre Stars. The area was devastated last year by Sea Star Wasting Disorder. Leather Stars and Blood Stars were also in abundance and looking healthy

Observed at Palmer's Point, Patrick's Point State Park, Humboldt County, California. Observed many individual specimens, probably around 15 total. All were quite small, the largest no more than 1.25cm, all the same uniform bright orange. Approximately -.8 tide

Description

Observed at Palmer's Point tidepools in Patrick's Point SP. Observed nearly twenty individuals over the course of two hours from approximately 3:30-5:30 PM. Approximately -0.8' tide. Found amid a variety of bryozoans & algae. Most were firmly attached to substrate. The individual photographed solo was gently loosened from eel grass and photographed in water, in a clear plastic vessel.

Observed in tidepools at Palmer's Point in Patrick's Point SP. Approximately 4:30 PM. Approximately -0.8' tide. Creature was observed detached from substrate, floating on the surface of the water. Photo is taken of creature in water, in a clear plastic vessel.
