Description

This creature bit me. The pain was only a 2 but it was quite itchy for about 10 minutes.
One day later - The area that was bit is slightly (but obviously) swollen in an uneven oblong shape and is itchy when touched.
Two days later - clear ooze when squeezed, more swollen and a clear lump in the center about 1/4” around surrounded by a red discoloration 1.5” around.

I have a hard time telling these apart from mosquitoes. Is there an easy way to distinguish them from mosquitoes? Thank you. :)

I know nothing about flies but this one seemed to have no wings or very underdeveloped wings. It was hopping around. Is this a normal instar?
