A mud dauber wasp, newly hatched from the mud nest in the background. This species uses mass provisioning, hunting and paralyzing spiders that are deposited in the mud chamber, alongside an egg. The larva later on feeds on those spiders, and pupates within the nest.

One of the largest molluscs of the Cantabrian intertidal (up to 8 cm). A predator on other molluscs, both bivalves and sea snails. Seems to favour warmer waters; it appears that its presence is increasing in the Cantabrian Sea (Bay of Biscay) in recent decades. It is known from shell deposits in prehistoric settlements, including the famous Altamira.
