Description

Common rough pasture plant on open river flats. Notably has quite long leaves on non-flowering rosettes and blackish peduncles up to 300mm tall.

Description

Branches thick [to 5-6mm] quite tomentose. Growing in bluffs sometimes to plants >2m across.

There is a much narrower form present in the area which I took to be either H. selago intermedium or H. microphyllum. The posted sp here had no fl on any of the 30+ specimens examined, but the narrower sp could be found in full flower. [see next posting]

Probably A. inermis as developing flower heads seem to lack spines.
Blue-grey foliage , notable tips of leaflets blunt rather than acute, foliage thick, almost succulent.

Dwelling in open rough pasture. Fidgety and constantly on the move, a difficult subject.

Description

Can't track satisfactory ID down. Is it a Cladia or Cladonia?
Saxicolous, alpine. Thallus terete, lightly branched. Main stem pale with bands of dark, smaller branches blackish to blackish brown. No visible perforations in thallus. Presumably fruticose but nothing reproductive apparent.
