Description

Common in grassland adjacent plants and wildling larch (Larix europaeus).

Fruiting bodies colonial, emerging in clusters with a semi-circle pattern. Pileus yellowish to caramel, very slimy. Pores yellow. Stipe solid, covered in flaking scales with a poorly developed ring (more or a remnant).

Description

Emerged overnight on a stump of a dead pin oak (Quercus palustris). Spores cinnamon brown. Stipe with prominent, 'floppy' ring; stipe otherwise covered in rugose flakes, these pale brown to orange pink. Pileus margin undulose, centrally depressed, smooth not sticky or mucilaginous, rather firm, whitish with pale orange patches.

Covering the exposed surfaces of rocks in dark orange 'fuzzy' growth.

Description

One of the Cladia aggregata auct. non. N.Z. authors complex.

Locally common amongst poorly draining Racomitrium mossfield. Forming circular patches up to 80 mm tall and 120 mm wide. Thallus hollow, perforated, perforations large, irregular.

Description

One of the "Porphyra" group of New Zealand Bangiaceae.

However, I am not so confident putting a name on this (not familiar with the southern South Island taxa). Lookssuperficially like Clymene coleana but much darker than I am used to seeing around the North Island.

Common near the high tide mark and within the spray zone on exposed reefs lining shore.

Description

I think so.

Occasional on blue/grey siltstone rock exposed at base of volcanogenic (basaltic?) sequence, at and just below low tide mark (specimens in surge zone). Associated with Pachymenia.

Stipes short, stout, somewhat flattened. Blades 1.0-1.5 m long, not much divided, rather thick, yellowish to yellow orange with occasional circular perforations.

Large moth noted on ceiling in Holiday Park Shower Block. Best images I could get sorry - it was high up and people look at you very strangely if you take a chair into a shower block with a camera to photograph a moth......!
