Sad sight in the forest

Ring barking of Assegai trees in the Newlands forest area is rampant. This is evidence of very recent activity. Many trees were seen in the Afromontane patch of forest, however, in the more northerly areas the ringbarked trees stand out, as many are already dead and dying

Ailing Ld galpinii - phytophthora the villain?

Small population and a about 8 plants died, one on its way. Generally good fynbos, but these plants are surrounded by Port Jackson in due decline due to bio control. Very concerned about the Ld it is on the redlist and plants remaining in Mossel Bay have suffered hugely due to road verge management (Louis Fourie rd and Aalwyndal). Possible cause? Any pointers or first aid... please?
