Description

This is the second rabbit that was eaten in our back yard, only a few fur balls and lower entrail colon area of rabbit left.
The first one was last winter, the last one a week ago. We live in a residential area mostly new construction over the past several years.
I would thinn it may be a fox or coyote but no prints, sounds, thinking it occurred at night as animals would have been visible to neighbors during the day.
When we first opened our office on Gemini May 2016 saw a red fox walking down Gemini heading north from the junction of cottage grove road and gemini. Thinking they may be coming from south of Cottage grove road behind the shrine facility. Other than that one siting I have not seen any other animals besides rabbits and squirrels. It is interesting the population seems to decrease and increase. We have also not seen birds in our backyard for several months since July when we had many feeding from bird feeders. Not sure if something is scaring them off as we do not have mature trees yet. My Residence is on Kilpatrick lane behind metro mart where the rabbits were eaten.

Second coyote sighting in less than 2 hours - 100% sure it's a different individual. My previous observation at 9:45AM was a collared, healthy-looking coyote that came from the northeast and left back that same way. The second coyote appeared in the same area (buckthorn thicket), but continued southwest across my property at 1002 Oak Way. This individual had no collar and looked somewhat unhealthy. It had a notable wound on its left upper foreleg, a scrawny-looking tail, and some sores on the face. I again took photos from inside my house and these features are plainly visible.
EDIT: This coyote trotted back through 30 minutes later, heading back northeast.

A coyote that appeared to have mange. The animal was first seen by Les Chateaux apartments and then moved up into Hoyt Park and disappeared from view. In the photo the coyote is just visible in the lower left corner of the image.

Good-sized coyote with collar, slowly moving through neighbor's buckthorn thicket. I took photos from inside my house. The coyote glanced this way a couple times, maybe noticing birds at our feeder, but ultimately trotted back in the direction it came from (northeast).

Saw a fox three times in the area while walking my dog so could have been the same fox: once in the middle of the street then ducking into yards, a second time where the Capital City Bike path crossed the railroad tracks near Kipp/Goodman Center, and a third time on the Starkweather Creek bike path in the Dixon greenway.

My ex was walking our 77# Weimaraner through the park and he said the coyote was 15-20 feet away. Our dog stopped and froze and stared at the coyote. The coyote started creeping towards her. My ex handed the leash to his girlfriend and then chased to coyote off. He said it looked healthy.

This is the second time I’ve seen a fox while walking my dog near Central Park. I don’t know if it was the same one both times. The first time I saw it I was stunned to be seeing a red fox up close. He didn’t even seem startled by me or my dog. The second time, the fox was running from some ravens that appeared to be tantalizing him but again didn’t seem that scared. There was a biker who stopped & got quite close. Interesting.

Fox crossed Warner Dr from west to east to stalk a gray squirrel. When the pudgy squirrel lazily scooted towards a tree, the fox trotted equally lazily after it, eventually circling the tree then heading north towards Johnson Park.

We were in the car and slowly rolled alongside the coyote as he ran through yards (we were not trying to haze him, he was kind of swerving and we did not want to risk hitting him). The coyote looked extremely mangy, and was trotting through people's yards. He looked very thin. He emerged from Quarry Park by Stevens street and continued down the road. We have seen coyote pups in that same location. I have a video but it would not upload.

I was walking westbound on Odana Road, approaching Dearholt Road (around the 5200 block or so) and saw a Red Fox walking towards me. He stopped, thought about it for a few seconds, then walked across the street. I stood there to make sure he made it across safely. After spending a minute or so on someone's front lawn, he started walking on the sidewalk again, headed eastbound.
