Wild roses like the ones I've seen in Alberta, though the ones in Nova Scotia are much bigger. Some of the rose "hips" get the size of crab-apples. Very prolific in the area.

American Woodcock. Only saw them one year, in 2015. They were here too early, in the winter, no worms yet, so many starved and were killed by crows. We tried to save them by putting out wet dog food but it was too late. Haven't seen them since.

Description

Basking shark swimming around in Cliff Cove, Indian Harbour (in front of our house). Verified by NS Natural Resources and was featured on CBC news. Estimate size of shark when he was close to a large boulder in the cove whose size I determined from Google (and confirmed with kayakers) A basking shark has a dorsal fin right smack in the middle of his body so if fin-fin is 13 feet, the entire fish is 26 feet long.

Cross Orbweaver was beside it so I could compare and do NOT believe this spider is an Orbweaver. Maybe full of eggs, making classification difficult? Saw other web photos of this spider with both trying to identify as well. Photo is underside of spider. Note the teardrop appearance, almost a circle. I've never seen a spider without a thorax before.
