Do volunteer Hazelnuts produce nuts? Maybe.
They do produce flowers which may mature into nuts. Shell fragment found underneath may indicate nut production.

Last photo has web-like tissue on stem which may be a cortina collapsed on the stem. The reddish brown on the stem may be due to spore deposit.
