Description

On the unimproved San Jose city Coyote Alamitos Park lands. This plant comes up every year about this time, and finally got the curiosity urge to climb the steep hill to snap several photos. If I need more photos to narrow down to the species, please let me know the specifics.

What

Great Egret (Ardea alba)

Observer

rick

Date

March 9, 2024 10:23 AM PST

Description

80% confident that it is a Great Egret because that is the only bird of this size (the other being a Blue Heron) that I have seen at this location over the past month. Extremely sloppy horse manure imbued mud. I was carrying a 5 month old so I didn't feel comfortable measuring with a coin.
