This was on my Japanese Quince, which doesn’t usually have fruit. Have never seen this before, and it was gone the next day. I do have Eastern Red Cedar nearby.

Ivory Bonnet (Atheniella flavoalba)Observer
rosannarossDescription
I don’t see anything suggested that looks like them. They probably came from the potting mixture and may not be native to my area.
What
Giant Leopard Moth (Hypercompe scribonia)Observer
rosannarossDescription
I was surprised to see a caterpillar in February. It was at night, and in the light of my front porch, and on my jasmine which was green. I read that I was lucky to see one. I think I saw the moth form a while ago, but it flew away before I could get a photo.

Wild Leek (Allium ampeloprasum)Observer
rosannarossDescription
This was growing in the yard of my 1897 home when I moved in 1980. The previous owners had the home since 1930, and were pretty poor and uneducated, so I don’t know where it could have come from. The flowers do look like a wild leek, but if that is what it is, it’s a mystery how it came to be in Lancaster, Texas.

Mystery plant
Mystery plant growing on a bit of dirt on top of a concrete slab in my back yard. Chair for scale, and catalpa leaf on top of a leaf for scale. Lost all leaves when it became hot and dry, leaves sprouting from from top today as it has become cooler. Nothing like it growing nearby.
