Small bee similar to a honeybee but smaller (approx 1 cm long). There were many of them in a meadow, on Purple Ironweed. Seen in the late afternoon, around 5 pm. Honeybees were also there; the honeybees were almost twice the size of the small bee, maybe 70% bigger.

It looks like a shelf fungus, but is growing in the lawn in an area where a stump was ground out years ago. Might be Ganoderma? 9 inches across, 2.5 inches off the ground. The second picture, which looks like a bowl on a stalk, is I think the same thing growing in the same area, underlain by the rotting roots of the ground-out stump, in the gravel driveway. They both started as small white knobs poking out of the ground.

Growing on the trunk of a mature oak tree, close to the ground. The biggest one was growing out of the ground a couple of inches from the base. Biggest one was 7-8 inches across. Last picture shows an uprooted dead one, I think it was the same thing. Some kind of shelf fungus that grows on rotting wood?
