Description

The red rock crab may be found statewide in shallow coastal areas and in bays, on rocky or reef-type habitat.  They  range from the intertidal zone to depths of 300 ft. or more.

Red rock crabs are both predators and scavengers, feeding on a variety of other invertebrates.  Their strong, crushing claws allow them to prey on heavy-shelled animals such as snails, clams, abalone, barnacles, and oyster.

Scientific Name: Menippe rumphii

Other Common Names: red crab

Range & Habitat: Statewide in coastal areas and bays, on rocky or reef-type habitat

Length & Weight: To 8 in.

Life Span: To 6 years

Diet & Bait: Feed on a variety of invertebrates including snails, clams, abalone, barnacles, oysters. Try using clams for bait.

Description

Scientific name : gekko gecko

Tokays are highly vocal geckos and are capable of producing many different sounds. Territorial specimens will make a barking type of call and startled individuals will often scream in surprise, fear or protest.

Food : Opportunistic feeders, tokay geckos consume just about anything they can overpower. In the wild much of their diet consists of insects and other lizards. In captivity they do well on a mix of crickets, mealworms, roaches, waxworms, hornworms, silkworms and small mice.

Status : endangered.

Economic value : highly priced in Chinese markets. A single gecko can sell for about 1Cr. Making them prone to poachers and hunters in the wild.

webs on bushes and small trees,
occasionally on bamboo branches also. In
some cases they have seen to prepare web
on shrub. The web may be of considerable
height above the ground. On the other
hand they have been seen to prepare web

They feed on smaller to medium size of
insects entangled by their nests.
