Description

I called the NS DOT carcass line to pick this animal up. Hit and left at the roadside it looks like.
I tend to put flowers or vegetation on the faces of animals I record, out of decency I suppose, or to give a semblance of dignity to the creature, and perhaps to say something about respect for life to others passing by.
Sentimental, I suppose, but better than looking the other way from creatures left like garbage.

Description

On a short stretch of less than 1/4 km at the top of a hill I collected 30 dead bees (4 diff species) when I got off my bike to walk to the top. Any ideas of where I should report, or what happened? (roadside spraying? collisions w vehicles?) I collected the dead bees and photographed at home as had no phone on me.

Found on roadside within 1 km of 3 dead bees and a butterfly. All found on west side of the road (walking against traffic). This one was near one of the dead bees I found on the same walk.

Found on a walk the same day I found 3 dead bees, a moth and this butterfly. All dead on roadsie within 1 km of each other. Unknown cause of death. Suspect vehicle collisions or pesticide.

Description

barely the skin shell of this creature left on the highway. Nearby were a dead seagull and dead crow. I suspect they were killed trying to feed on the carcass, but that is a guess.

I was very sad to see this scene. It always makes me wonder how someone could keep driving after hitting an animal, especially such a young one. I put plants on its head as a sign of respect. I'm sorry this fawn died this way.

Crow with broken neck on side of the road. I saw two others on the same stretch of road about 2 kms long. I wondered if it was a game in the region to hit wildlife/crows. There were a lot of dead animals in this region. I only stopped to take two photos.

A young woodchuck or groundhog dead at the edge of the road. I put flowers on its head in respect as I didn't have a shovel and couldn't move it into the vegetation.
