Hi, I'm a botanist, explorer, ecologist, and forest dweller. I genuinely enjoy learning about all flora and fauna.

I have been a botanist with the Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves since 2006 and currently manage our Kentucky Plant Conservation Program/Section where we specialize in surveying, monitoring, managing and restoring plants (vascular and non-vascular) and natural communities of conservation concern. Much of my time is focused on plant diversity. I am also currently the President of the Kentucky Native Plant Society and one of our goals is to build up Kentucky's botanical community and get folks interested in our native plants.

Additionally, I have an interest in mushrooms, lichens, spiders, and caterpillars/Lepidoptera and generally anything else I happen to see while exploring. I hope to use Inaturalist to increase my knowledge of other groups of flora and fauna, as well as increasing the scientific communities general knowledge of the diversity, distribution, and conservation status of our flora (and fauna).

Please join the first ever Kentucky Botanists Big Year 2019 project! Also, please join one of the many other projects tracking Kentucky's flora and fauna,i.e. Plants (Vascular) of Kentucky, Bryophytes of Kentucky, Lichens of Kentucky, Mushrooms of Kentucky, Spiders of Kentucky, Lepidoptera of Kentucky, etc.
