I have always loved the outdoors. As a child, I could spend hours outside pretending to be an explorer or an adventurer out in the remote wilderness. After graduating from college I ended up as a park ranger in Texas. My mother's comment was "well, I should have known that was going to happen". My ranger days are over but I can still spend hours outside. The outdoors is my refuge from the pressures of being a cubicle worker, parent, and suburban dweller. I enjoy finding it all- birds, snakes, butterflies, dragonflies, fungi- but when that first common whitetail of the season shows up in March or early April, I know that my favorite dragonflies are on their way. I even look for good dragonfly spots when I travel, in case I can add one to my life list.
