I'm a dilettantish botanist from the eastern Unites States. I worked with Bob Faden on the systematics of Commelinaceae (Dayflowers and Spiderworts) as an undergrad at the National Museum of Natural History in D.C. and later on the phylogenetics of the grasses of the tribe Andropogoneae (the sorghum tribe) with Toby Kellogg as a grad student in St. Louis. I co-authored a few papers with each. I recently worked for about a year at Indiana University's herbarium on their digitization project, which is now complete (http://midwestherbaria.org/). At the moment I am living in Japan where botany is not my main focus, but it is still very much an active hobby.
