I retired four years ago and took the camera off the shelf to photograph some kits in a Gray Fox den under my woodworking shop. Very quickly I realized how little I really knew about the twenty acres of land that my wife and I have in Townshend, Vermont, and the incredible diversity of life that has shared this property with us for thirty-eight years. Every day now includes time for leisurely discovery and rarely has a day not presented something wondrous and new.
I greatly appreciate the expertise of the dedicated folk at the Vermont Center for EcoStudies and the knowledge, inspiration and encouragement from all in the iNaturalist community. I am especially grateful for the patience of my ever-supportive wife and, of course, for the amazing beauty and bounty that we are privileged to have at our doorstep.
