Located in Southeastern Massachusetts, USA.
From 2009 to 2022, I was a professional educator in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, US. I developed curriculum for and co-taught weekly environmental justice classes. I also developed curriculum for and co-led a week-long ecology day camp for upper elementary children and young adolescents.
Now that I'm no longer a professional educator, I continue as a volunteer educator. I'm one of the co-directors of Ecojustice Camp, a weeklong state-licensed day camp in Cohasset https://ecojusticecampsouthshore.org. I periodically lead workshops in environmental justice and ecological spirituality for children, teens, and adults.
In 2021, I completed the California Certified Naturalist program. As of fall, 2023, I'm close to completing Mass. Audubon's Field Naturalist Certificate Program. Both these programs are the equivalent of "Master Naturalist" certification in other US states.
As an identifier, I try to get observations out of "Unknown" status, focusing on Norfolk and Plymouth counties, Mass., US. I usually ID to the level of kingdom, phylum, or subphylum. (I know a little bit about botany, and may ID plants to family, genus, or species.) Mostly I want to help other iNat users, esp. new users, get their observations identified. Please let me know if you disagree with my IDs, I'm very aware of my limitations as an IDer.
A former art student, I'm inspired by the plant photographs of Karl Blossfeldt https://www.moma.org/artists/24413 and John Gossage's 1985 book The Pond.
