I've always loved photographing my immediate world, and in the last few years, with my trusty bridge camera, I've enjoyed taking bird portraits, as well as bugs and plants, which I use for my paintings. My bridge can also capture a faraway subject quite well, so is useful for the purpose of id. I love to name and document them all, and hope somewhere along the line they might be of use. For a few years, I documented birdlife along the Black and Liesbeek rivers in Cape Town, having spent time joining river cleanups there, and holding my breath while the Amazon headquarters' controversial development went ahead.
