As a former behavioural biologist I'm mainly interested in social animals and conservation, however I've spent a few years now working on montane amphibians in Tanzania. I've got the privilege to work in the Uzungwa Scarp Nature Forest Reserve (Udzungwa Mts), a beautiful rainforest and one of the most amazing places in East Africa in terms of herpetofauna and microendemism. My PhD project (CHURA - Conserving Hyperendemic Udzungwa Restricted Amphibians) aims to assess the amphibian richness and distribution across the area to quantify extinction risk and produce an Action Plan to support the long-term management of the site’s amphibian diversity...fingers crossed I'll reach my goal before it's too late to conserve anything!
